Earcandles are made from natural undyed cotton and natural beeswax.
When lit, the ear candle generates a gentle heat which, when combined with the therapeutic oils, produces a circulation of concentrated air and a light suction action. The rising air inside the ear sets up a vibration which gently massages the eardrum. This can help to regulate the pressures inside the ear.
Secretion flow is gently stimulated.
This treatment provides deep relaxation, clears the head and brings relief, especially in the ear-nose area, but it also works well for headaches, stress, colds and congestion in the ears and sinuses.
They can also be used safely and effectively with children!
Ear candles cannot be used when a person has ear-tubes, acute ear infections, perforated eardrums or epilepsy.
What happens during an ear candling session?
You lie fully dressed comfortably on your side, with your head supported on a pillow so the auditory canal is vertical.
The candle is then lit and the non-burning end is placed gently into the outer ear canal and it will be turned lightly to seal it in place. You will then experience a pleasant crackling sound and a warm comfortable feeling as the candle burns. I will hold on to the candle all through the process and when the candle has burned down to a specific mark indicated on its side, it will be removed from the ear and then extinguished. The process is then repeated on the other ear.
The session starts with an ear massage and ends with a period of relaxation to enhance the experience.

As with all complementary therapies: ear candling is not a replacement for seeing your doctor when you have any health concerns, however, you are the ultimate judge if this ancient remedy could be beneficial to you.
