Aromatherapy is the skilful use of essential plant oils for health and well being.
Essential oils contain the “soul” of the plant, which has significant impact on those who use them.
Aromatherapy is a holistic treatment, it is a caring, hands-on therapy which can help to relax you, to increase your energylevels, to reduce the effects of stress and to restore lost balance to your mind, body and soul.
Essential oils used in Aromatherapy are obtained from flowers, leaves, wood, resin and roots of herbs, shrubs and trees. Each oil has its own unique properties.
The quality of the oils depends on many aspects; the country where the plant has been gathered, the quality of the crop, depending on climatic changes, the way they are collected and stored.
One of the most advantageous aspects of using essential oils medicinally is that they enter and leave the body without leaving toxins behind and without unpleasant side effects.
Essential oils are therapeutic physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
They can be used for a wide variety of things, such as relieving muscle strain, aches and pains, they are an aid to meditation and concentration, great with helping to create a romantic atmosphere, they can be used as airfreshner, they're excellent for reducing all types of stress, repelling insects and treating their stings and much more.
I blend all the oils myself. The base is a 100% natural oil of good quality, such as sweet almond or jojoba to which essential oils are added. This blend is then used for your massage. Of course I can also make an oil, body lotion or cream with any blend of oils you like.
An aromatherapy treatment starts with a chat about what brought you to see me today. I will ask about your general history, medical health and lifestyle.
This will help me to choose which oils will be most beneficial for you at this time.
Please be assured that any information given is treated with the utmost respect and confidentiality.
As with all complementary therapies: it is not a replacement for seeing your doctor when you have any health concerns, however, you are the ultimate judge if aromatherapy could be beneficial to you.
